Responsibilities
- Build and maintain paved-road templates and golden paths within the Backstage Internal Developer Platform.
- Provision and manage Amazon EKS clusters across development, staging, and production environments on AWS.
- Design and manage AWS networking, including VPCs, CIDR allocation, VPC peering, site-to-site VPNs, and Transit Gateway.
- Support Central Inspection Hub onboarding and implement secure egress controls.
- Build and maintain observability capabilities for metrics, logs, and traces using Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, and OpenSearch.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and Kargo.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform or OpenTofu.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS networking, including VPC design, CIDR allocation, VPC peering, Transit Gateway, and site-to-site VPN.
- Strong Kubernetes administration experience, including cluster management, RBAC, pod identity, and Amazon EKS.
- Experience building or contributing to an Internal Developer Platform; Backstage experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong GitOps and infrastructure-as-code mindset focused on automation and eliminating manual processes.
- Ability to work effectively across cloud infrastructure, security, networking, and developer experience.
- Preferred experience with Backstage plugin development.
- Preferred hands-on experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Envoy.
- Preferred experience setting up or integrating SSO and identity providers such as Zitadel or Microsoft Entra ID.
- Preferred experience with OIDC and modern identity and access management patterns.
- Preferred experience operating observability platforms using Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, or OpenSearch.
