Responsibilities
- Propose and implement features, capabilities, algorithms, infrastructure, and products across the software stack.
- Review colleagues’ code contributions, proposals, and RFCs, prioritizing unblocking other engineers.
- Maintain existing software and work with internal and external customers to identify issues.
- Improve operational reliability and performance while addressing technical debt.
- Develop and improve micro- and macro-level tests and benchmarks.
- Work across distributed systems, human-autonomy teaming, networking, real-time interfaces, deployment infrastructure, security, and machine-learning systems.
- Mentor colleagues, participate in the interviewing pipeline, and share technical knowledge through talks and learning groups.
- Present work during weekly demo sessions.
Requirements
- Write legible, maintainable, and performant code.
- Communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
- Collaborate through code reviews and pair programming.
- Work comfortably asynchronously through pull requests, RFCs, email, and related communication.
- Be familiar with backend interface tools such as WebRTC, gRPC/Protocol Buffers, and Arrow.
- Have development experience with a language such as Rust, Java, Go, or C++.
- Have state-of-the-art experience with frameworks such as React.
- Have experience designing long-lived protocols and data schemas for system integration.
- Have experience or strong interest in designing data-heavy UIs and prototyping.
- Experience with aviation software developed according to DALs and standards such as DO-278 is desirable.
- Knowledge of NATO UCS standards such as STANAG 4586/AEP-84 is desirable.
- Knowledge of metrics tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK is desirable.
- Experience with production machine-learning systems is desirable.
- Be committed to collaboration, continuous improvement, and ethical engineering.
