Base Salary
$163k - $203k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own optimization initiatives end to end, including problem definition, data analysis, solution design, implementation, and outcome measurement.
- Design, develop, and maintain software that schedules and optimizes activities across satellite constellations.
- Define concepts of operations for current fleets, new missions, and customer use cases with spacecraft, imaging, and systems engineering teams.
- Analyze operational data across the full stack to identify inefficiencies and build the case for improvements.
- Advise the team technically and mentor earlier-career engineers.
- Represent the team’s technical position with engineering, operations, and product stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent depth achieved through work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Deep proficiency in Python or a comparable programming language and experience designing and shipping dependable systems.
- Ability to drive ambiguous, loosely scoped problems to measurable outcomes with minimal direction.
- Data-driven approach, including statistical analysis and reasoning over large operational datasets.
- Strong written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience mentoring or technically leading other engineers.
- Preferred: familiarity with satellite engineering, orbital mechanics, the space environment, spacecraft or remote/autonomous systems, concepts of operations, optimization, scheduling, operations research, constraint solvers, heuristics, combinatorial optimization, DevOps tooling, open-source contributions, Git, GitLab, Docker, CI/CD, Linux, Sentry, or Datadog.
