Responsibilities
- Shape ambiguous product opportunities into technical direction and specifications that other engineers and agents can execute.
- Steer multiple agents across concurrent workstreams while retaining engineering judgment and ownership.
- Set verification standards using tests, observability, production-readiness checks, and risk-based review.
- Own feature lifecycles from specification through production monitoring, including correctness, security, maintainability, and customer impact.
- Design agent instructions, repository conventions, test harnesses, playbooks, and workflows that improve team productivity.
- Influence product decisions and collaborate with product, design, and support.
- Mentor engineers on agentic development practices and technical decision-making.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping customer-facing production software through production monitoring.
- Experience using AI coding agents to deliver features across parallel workstreams.
- Proficiency in system design, data modeling, architecture, performance tradeoffs, and data-flow tradeoffs.
- Ability to write executable agent specifications and technical documentation for people and agents.
- Depth in context engineering and designing agent workflows with human checkpoints.
- Ability to read unfamiliar code, perform root-cause analysis, design tests and evaluations, and identify security vulnerabilities through threat modeling.
- Experience managing concurrent version-control workflows and setting safe-release and reliability standards.
- Experience with production observability, metrics, traces, and incident response.
- Ability to mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and communicate technical direction and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
