Responsibilities

  • Independently perform complex application and web development for large and highly complex projects.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and scale software systems for AI in education and public policy.
  • Build generative AI, machine learning, and natural language processing tools for empirical research and real-world deployment.
  • Lead and collaborate on technically challenging projects involving AI, machine learning, NLP, and large-scale experimentation.
  • Contribute to randomized controlled trials and other empirical methods evaluating AI-driven interventions.
  • Translate theoretical models and experimental designs into high-performance, production-ready systems.
  • Co-author or contribute to peer-reviewed publications, conference proceedings, and technical reports.
  • Stay current with AI, computational social science, and causal inference research and technologies.
  • Follow Harvard University IT technical standards, policies, and Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or relevant work experience in computer science, data science, or a closely related field.
  • Strong background in advanced software engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and empirical research methodologies.
  • Experience working with generative AI pipelines.
  • Experience deploying software in a cloud environment.
  • Full-stack development experience with Python and TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with Svelte or React is preferred.
  • Demonstrated team performance skills, a service mindset, and ability to act as a trusted advisor.
