Responsibilities
- Develop the core replication engine for Percona ClusterSync for MongoDB using initial cloning and continuous MongoDB Change Streams replication.
- Implement correctness and fault tolerance for network failures, primary elections, restarts, ordering, resumability, and delivery guarantees.
- Support replication across MongoDB sharded clusters, including chunk migrations, balancer activity, namespace filtering, index management, DDL, and TTL edge cases.
- Improve cloning parallelism, backpressure, throughput, memory use, and connection management for large production clusters.
- Build and maintain the CLI, HTTP API, metrics, and structured logging for operating and observing synchronization.
- Contribute to Percona Backup for MongoDB through backup, restore, point-in-time recovery, object-storage integration, pbm-agent, pbm CLI, and cluster coordination.
- Participate in open-source pull requests, code review, JIRA workflows, testing, packaging, CI, and security scanning.
Requirements
- Strong production Go experience and fluency with goroutines, channels, context cancellation, worker pools, and backpressure.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and data consistency, including delivery guarantees, idempotency, ordering, and resumable stateful processes.
- Hands-on MongoDB knowledge covering Change Streams, the oplog, resume tokens, replica sets, and sharding.
- Experience building and operating command-line tools and HTTP APIs and instrumenting systems with metrics and structured logs.
- Experience writing tests that identify real production problems and working across a mixed toolchain.
- Experience with Git, pull-request workflows, code review, and written communication in open-source communities.
- Prior experience with database internals, CDC pipelines, ETL, data migration tooling, Prometheus-style metrics, golangci-lint, Trivy, deb or rpm packaging, or open-source projects is preferred.
Benefits
- Remote-only, globally dispersed work environment with flexible work hours.
- Paid time off programs, equipment for a remote office, career-development funds, training, certifications, conferences, and connectivity allowances.
- Opportunity to participate in the equity incentive plan.
- Work-life-balance programs including Work-from-Anywhere, FlowDays, FryDays, the Percona Adventure Team, and flexible working practices.
- Social-responsibility opportunities through the PAVE volunteering program and Women Transforming Technology.
