Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement control and protection software for HVDC converter stations.
- Configure sequence control, regulation loops, and fault detection mechanisms.
- Conduct factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing of software applications.
- Participate in on-site HVDC commissioning and resolve software-related issues.
- Troubleshoot software and system problems during commissioning and operations.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, system engineers, project managers, customers, and internal teams.
- Prepare software design specifications, test plans, operation manuals, and other technical documentation.
- Provide technical support and training on HVDC control and protection systems.
- Apply quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines.
- Travel internationally for commissioning, testing, and customer support activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Typically 3 or more years of control and protection software development experience for power systems, preferably HVDC or FACTS.
- Strong knowledge of HVDC technology, VSC and LCC converter topologies, and control principles.
- Proficiency in C, C++, or IEC 61131-3 industrial control programming languages.
- Experience with real-time operating systems and industrial communication protocols such as IEC 61850.
- Familiarity with PSCAD and MATLAB/Simulink for power-system simulation.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, diagnostic, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
