Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap and architecture for Jira, Confluence, Jellyfish, and future engineering tools, emphasizing automation and self-service.
- Build and maintain integrations between engineering systems using REST APIs, webhooks, and scripting.
- Direct and evaluate AI-assisted SDLC work, including prompts, specifications, output evaluation, and connector or tool development.
- Provide technical leadership and review work from the Jr Developer, Engineering Operations role.
- Create reliable metrics and executive-ready reporting from Jira and Jellyfish data.
- Support program and release management with tooling, data, and process guidance.
- Define and enforce consistent tool usage patterns across engineering, product, and Technical Program Management teams.
- Partner with engineering and product leadership to improve productivity and reduce workflow friction.
- Mentor junior team members through technical direction, code and configuration review, and skill development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 4 years of experience in engineering operations, tooling, integrations, or process management.
- Working proficiency in Python and REST API integration patterns, including authentication flows, pagination, rate limits, and retry logic.
- Experience with Git and pull-request-based workflows.
- Practical experience using an LLM as a working tool and understanding its limitations.
- Strong written communication for executive narratives, technical specifications, prompts, and evaluation criteria.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Experience administering Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence is preferred.
- SQL experience for joins, aggregation, and filtering is preferred.
- Experience with MCP, connector development, agentic patterns, and tool or skill design is preferred.
- Familiarity with Jellyfish or comparable engineering intelligence platforms is preferred.
- Experience with software development life cycle processes and secrets and credential hygiene is preferred.
