Base Salary

$134k - $228k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain BFT consensus, block production, finality, state storage, snapshotting, and state recovery.
  • Implement cryptographic signing, Merkle-committed state, threshold and shard-based key handling, and hardware-backed custody integrations.
  • Build the expression language, compiler, bytecode VM, parser, type checker, interpreter, and programmable transfer and access rules.
  • Design and support gRPC services, REST gateways, CLI tools, and multi-language client SDKs.
  • Stream ledger data into ClickHouse and Postgres for queries, explorers, and reporting, with Prometheus metrics and tracing.
  • Create deterministic simulation, fault-injection, property-based testing, fuzzing, and formal model-checking systems for distributed-code correctness.
  • Operate production systems using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, metrics, traces, and root-cause incident analysis.
  • Write technical designs and documentation for internal teams and bank engineering customers.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of professional backend or systems engineering experience, including at least three years writing production Rust.
  • Deep practical async Rust experience with tokio, futures, traits, generics, lifetimes, Send, and Sync.
  • Hands-on experience with blockchain or distributed-ledger internals, including consensus, transaction validation, state commitments, storage, or node networking.
  • Applied understanding of digital signatures, hashing, key derivation, key custody, and system trust boundaries.
  • Experience designing and evolving service APIs, ideally gRPC and Protocol Buffers, with backward compatibility for versioned clients.
  • Experience operating production systems with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, metrics, tracing, and incident debugging.
  • Experience testing concurrent and distributed code through unit, integration, simulation-level, property-based, or timing-sensitive testing.
  • Clear technical writing skills.
  • Preferred experience with digital currencies, tokenized deposits, payments, core banking systems, or ISO 20022.
  • Preferred experience with trusted execution environments, Intel SGX, AWS Nitro Enclaves, vsock, HSMs, or PKCS#11.
  • Preferred language, compiler, or virtual-machine implementation experience.
  • Preferred experience with ClickHouse, Kafka, sqlx, Postgres, TypeScript, Python, or Go.
  • Public contributions to Rust or distributed-ledger open-source projects are a plus.

Benefits

  • Full-time employment with a stated base pay range of $133,980.00-$227,770.00 annually.
  • New York City-area location preference, with remote flexibility for candidates able to work Eastern Time hours.
  • Travel to New York may be required for customer sessions, planning, and key team meetings.
