Base Salary

$278k - $490k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Continuously hunt for vulnerabilities in interactions among the applications, infrastructure, and models powering OpenAI’s agentic products.
  • Conduct open-scope red and purple team operations that simulate realistic attack scenarios.
  • Collaborate with defensive security teams to improve detection, response, and mitigation capabilities.
  • Perform comprehensive penetration testing across OpenAI’s products.
  • Use advanced automation and OpenAI technologies to improve offensive security work.
  • Present clear, actionable findings to drive impactful security improvements.
  • Influence security strategy through attacker-driven insights into risk and threat modeling.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on red team experience or exceptional accomplishments demonstrating equivalent expertise.
  • Deep expertise conducting offensive security operations within modern technology companies.
  • Experience designing, developing, or testing the security of AI-powered systems.
  • Experience finding, exploiting, and mitigating AI vulnerabilities such as prompt injection, sensitive data leakage, confused deputies, and dynamically generated UI components.
  • Exceptional code-review skills and the ability to identify novel and subtle vulnerabilities.
  • Experience conducting offensive security assessments in at least one hyperscaler cloud environment, preferably Azure.
  • Mastery of Kubernetes clusters, container environments, GitHub security, macOS and Linux, data science tooling and environments, Python-based web services, and React-based frontend applications.
  • Strong understanding of trust boundaries and risk assessment in dynamic contexts.
  • Excellent coding skills for building robust offensive-security tools and automation.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts through compelling storytelling.
  • Track record of both finding vulnerabilities and contributing to solutions in complex codebases.
  • Background in AI or data science, startup experience, or experience in software engineering, detection engineering, site reliability engineering, security engineering, or IT infrastructure is advantageous.
