Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed-system components and optimize systems for large-scale data processing.
- Build fault-tolerant components using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented principles.
- Implement load, performance, correctness, fault-injection, and brown-out testing.
- Create alarms, dashboards, telemetry, alerting, runbooks, and operational procedures to detect and recover from failures.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in incident response and root-cause investigations, and support operational rotations.
- Develop automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools for troubleshooting, maintenance, and cloud infrastructure management.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance controls, and change-management procedures.
- Track work with minimal supervision, collaborate across teams, troubleshoot standard and non-standard issues, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Ability to design, implement, and optimize distributed systems for scalability, resiliency, availability, and operability.
- Experience with fault tolerance, replication, synchronization, automatic failover, recovery-oriented design, and network reliability mechanisms.
- Ability to implement performance, load, fault-injection, and operational testing and to build monitoring and alerting solutions.
- Ability to troubleshoot production systems, write runbooks, participate in incident response, and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure automation, infrastructure as code, security controls, compliance standards, and change management.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work, collaborate across teams, analyze information from multiple sources, learn continuously, and improve processes.
