Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Define and evolve architectural solutions for performance, scalability, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
- Own the exchange’s technical roadmap and architecture for major initiatives across market data, trading, clearing, and settlement.
- Maintain shared system foundations, including patterns, boundaries, and data contracts.
- Drive consistency in technologies and architectural patterns across exchange services.
- Partner with Product, Infrastructure, Platform, brokers, market makers, clearing partners, and other engineering teams.
- Build prototypes, proofs of concept, and production systems hands-on.
- Set performance and reliability targets and lead load and resilience testing before peak sporting events.
- Guide distributed-system design covering fault tolerance, observability, and operational readiness.
- Own operational health, contribute to incident resolution, and implement preventative fixes.
- Use AI tooling and automation to improve analysis, monitoring, drafting, delivery speed, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct design reviews, provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and raise engineering standards.
- Align architectural decisions with business priorities and long-term platform strategy.
Requirements
- Significant professional software engineering experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Experience with high-volume transactional or event-driven systems where correctness and speed are critical; exchange, trading, payments, or financial-systems experience is advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of messaging and streaming systems; hands-on Kafka expertise is advantageous.
- Understanding of distributed state management, data partitioning and sharding, in-memory versus durable storage, and consistency trade-offs.
- Experience with microservices architecture, containerization, orchestration, and more than one language stack, including comfort with Go and .NET/C#.
- Familiarity with FIX, gRPC, Protobuf, contract-first design, and third-party system integrations.
- Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases and their use-case trade-offs.
- Proficiency with continuous integration and delivery, infrastructure as code, observability tooling, load testing, and capacity projection.
- Practical production experience with AI coding assistants, agents, automated review, and analysis.
- Ability to evaluate the economics of AI-based approaches against building or buying solutions.
- Exposure to regulated software environments, including auditability, data sensitivity, and compliance.
- Clear communication and documentation skills for influencing technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Interest in mentoring engineers, providing design feedback, and improving engineering standards.
