Responsibilities
- Define the target-state architecture and roadmap for middle- and back-office platforms supporting rates and FX and derivatives trading systems.
- Design high-throughput event-driven publisher/subscriber integrations using Amazon MSK, Apache Kafka, Amazon EKS, and AWS Fargate.
- Maintain backward compatibility and protect upstream front-office and downstream financial workflows from disruption.
- Establish reusable architecture standards and reference blueprints aligned with enterprise architecture guardrails.
- Own automated AWS infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and enforce Zero-Trust security and IAM practices.
- Ensure high availability, performance, observability, and self-healing behavior using CloudWatch and scalable cloud-native systems.
- Perform deep-dive code reviews and communicate distributed-systems architecture to executives and engineering teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of IT architecture experience, including at least 4+ years as a Cloud Architect in capital markets, investment banking, or fintech.
- Production experience architecting, scaling, and managing cloud-native applications on Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, AWS Fargate, or ECS.
- Knowledge of container lifecycle management, service meshes, and autoscaling paradigms such as KEDA based on Kafka lag.
- Strong Java and Python background for enterprise backend systems, Kafka streams, data engineering, pipelines, and service deployment.
- Deep production experience writing modular Terraform configurations for immutable AWS environments.
- Hands-on expertise with Apache Kafka or Amazon MSK, including performance tuning, partition strategies, and consumer-lag mitigation.
- Mastery of distributed-systems integration patterns including event sourcing, CQRS, dead-letter queuing, and idempotency.
- Exceptional stakeholder-management and technical communication skills.
- Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate, CKA or CKAD, Databricks Certified Solutions Architect, and Confluent Certified Administrator or Developer.
