Responsibilities
- Lead and develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, test procedures, and testing strategies for aerospace software systems.
- Design and architect complex software test systems, frameworks, and automated testing tools.
- Develop and review automated test scripts for use in continuous integration environments.
- Coordinate testing activities, prioritize test work, ensure requirements coverage, and assess testing risks and opportunities.
- Perform functional, performance, reliability, regression, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Manage the defect lifecycle, including reporting, triage, reproduction, fix verification, and resolution tracking.
- Review software requirements, software design descriptions, interface control documents, and test documentation.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on software quality and testability.
- Maintain test plans, test cases, test reports, and other testing documentation.
- Collaborate with software development, systems engineering, and quality assurance teams.
- Mentor and guide junior test engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree, or a master's degree plus 3 years of experience.
- Typically 5+ years of related experience in software testing or software development.
- Expertise in multiple programming languages and advanced understanding of software development principles.
- Ability to design and architect complex software systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship is required for the active clearance requirement.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide other engineers and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred experience with Linux-based development environments, spacecraft flight software, ground command and control software, automated testing tools, and testing in aerospace or regulated industries.
- Preferred proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or Shell and familiarity with software design patterns, security testing, cloud-based testing, and test management tools such as JIRA or TestRail.
- Preferred experience with software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop methods, spacecraft simulation, discrete-time simulation, fault-tolerant software, and safety-critical systems.
- Preferred experience leading testing projects or teams and working with minimal supervision in fast-paced collaborative environments.
Benefits
- Contractor position with compensation of $60.87-$83.69 per hour.
