Base Salary
$140k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor application engineers through technical guidance, architectural direction, code reviews, and complex engineering support.
- Design, develop, and maintain Java applications and microservices using Spring Boot, Spring Data, and RESTful APIs.
- Lead application assessment, containerization, and VM-to-Google Cloud and Google Kubernetes Engine migration activities.
- Guide Docker and Kubernetes deployments, CI/CD pipelines, application configuration, secrets management, runtime readiness, and troubleshooting.
- Develop unit, integration, and API testing strategies for application quality and production readiness.
- Design and maintain SQL and NoSQL data-access layers.
- Implement logging, monitoring, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting, and other observability practices.
- Coordinate engineering activities, technical dependencies, and application modernization initiatives across a portfolio of 500+ applications.
- Collaborate with platform engineering, DevOps, security, and architecture teams on engineering standards and deployment practices.
- Use Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Gemini for development, modernization, testing, documentation, and engineering automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology and Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong experience with application engineering, Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, application testing, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with application modernization, VM-to-container migration, and cloud deployments.
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, application observability, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills.
- React, Angular, or Vue experience and RESTful API integration are preferred.
