Responsibilities
- Partner with mission designers to prototype, implement, and iterate on mission content through shippable quality.
- Deliver clear, reliable, well-paced, and polished player-facing mission experiences.
- Implement and maintain mission gameplay features and supporting code frameworks with emphasis on correctness, readability, and extensibility.
- Improve mission iteration speed through stronger workflows, debugging visibility, and validation.
- Profile and optimize mission content and gameplay features for stable, release-quality execution.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary and technical partners to diagnose issues and drive fixes to resolution.
- Contribute readable code commits, code reviews, lightweight documentation, and a collaborative engineering culture.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in gameplay engineering or a combination of applicable training and related experience.
- Engineering contributions to at least one shipped game title or similarly complex real-time interactive product.
- Experience delivering features as part of a cross-functional team including designers, artists, animators, level designers, and FX artists.
- Experience working on real-time 3D games.
- Ability to understand and write production-grade C++ code.
- Experience with readable, well-tested commits, code reviews, debugging, performance analysis, and optimization.
- Preferred: a degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: Unreal Engine development using C++ and Blueprint; AAA PC, Xbox, and PlayStation game development; large codebases; collaboration across gameplay teams; and online multiplayer games.
