Base Salary
$232k - $323k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and scale platform infrastructure and developer tooling for Ashby’s growing product and customer base.
- Own platform projects end-to-end, including research, technical design, implementation, delivery, and ongoing operation.
- Optimize the recruiting DSL-to-SQL compiler and create tools to help engineers improve it.
- Create automated security and privacy guardrails for customer data.
- Enable canary deployments, gradual rollouts, and feature flags while reducing downtime and operational complexity.
- Define SLOs and implement corresponding SLIs with business and engineering stakeholders.
- Ensure external-service communication supports retries and circuit breakers.
- Implement infrastructure for event-driven architecture and a data warehouse.
- Contribute to infrastructure updates, database optimization, Kubernetes debugging, monitoring, provisioning, release processes, and TypeScript troubleshooting.
- Review and submit code, communicate best practices asynchronously, participate in interview panels, and support engineers through developer tooling.
Requirements
- Experience building infrastructure at a later-stage company and working with millions of data points.
- Experience automating infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and release processes.
- Strong software engineering ability with a willingness to code, review code, and own applications at a platform level.
- Ability to make independent technical decisions and deliver projects end-to-end with minimal oversight.
- Comfort evaluating and balancing reliability, security, flexibility, and operational risk.
- Ability to work across infrastructure, security, databases, Kubernetes, and application debugging as a versatile platform engineer.
- Comfort with SQL and data modeling, including optimizing reports or advising on performant data models.
- Ability to communicate best practices through written communication in an asynchronous culture.
- Experience debugging complex incidents and solving ambiguous, high-impact infrastructure problems.
