Base Salary
$83k - $140k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own test strategy and test planning, including scope, risk assessment, entry and exit criteria, and coverage targets.
- Lead quality discussions and establish quality objectives for the assigned delivery team.
- Develop, execute, and maintain functional, regression, integration, API, exploratory, and automated tests.
- Build automated UI and API test suites using tools such as Playwright and Postman/Newman.
- Validate API contracts, payloads, error handling, integrated data, ETL transformations, and end-to-end data reconciliation.
- Contribute automated tests to Jenkins and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
- Document defects, perform root cause analysis using logs, stack traces, and database states, and participate in code reviews.
- Manage test data, mock services, QA environments, quality metrics, and testing process improvements.
- Coordinate assignments and triage with distributed teams and offshore or nearshore vendor partners.
- Coach, guide, train, and review junior team members without having direct reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in quality engineering or software testing, including at least 2 years in test automation.
- Hands-on proficiency in at least one of Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript, including the ability to read, understand, and debug production code.
- Experience designing test strategies and owning end-to-end test planning.
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, REST Assured, or Postman/Newman.
- Understanding of API testing, RESTful service patterns, SQL, database validation, data transformations, and ETL testing.
- Experience contributing automated tests to CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with Git, branching strategies, and pull request workflows.
- Understanding of the test automation pyramid, coverage allocation, Agile/Scrum, shift-left testing, and the software development lifecycle.
- Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6 and awareness of AI-assisted testing tools.
- Ability to work independently, solve moderately complex problems, communicate effectively, coordinate quality work, delegate tasks, and review junior team members’ output.
- Preferred experience includes insurance domain knowledge, especially claims management or insurance billing workflows.
