Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end feature validation, requirements definition, test planning, automation coverage, and quality signoff.
- Define automation strategies with technical leads and maintain robust frameworks for API, mobile, desktop, and UI testing.
- Drive non-functional, performance, and load testing, including hands-on participation in large-feature load tests.
- Monitor and improve test suites, runners, framework performance, reliability, and automation results.
- Build and maintain test pipelines within CI/CD workflows to provide fast developer feedback.
- Coach developers on unit and integration testing and participate in UAT and architectural discussions.
- Identify risks and automation gaps, raise defects, support triage, and advocate for resolution.
- Provide support for internal automation tools and frameworks and contribute to the broader Automation QA strategy.
- Mentor engineers, foster cross-functional collaboration, and help teams deliver high-quality results.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience as a QA Automation Engineer or SDET in an Agile environment, including demonstrated technical leadership.
- Very strong knowledge of Selenium and Appium, with proven experience testing iOS, Android, APIs, and user interfaces.
- Ability to inspect, reverse engineer, contribute to, and optimize UI automation frameworks, runners, performance, and reliability.
- Ability to interrogate APIs with manual tools and write scripts to chain API calls and verify fields or conduct comparable tests.
- Ability to create UI-based load-testing scenarios and manage load testing for large features, with an understanding of component performance checks.
- Ability to use automated security tooling such as Burp.
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript coding skills, or demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD practices and experience with GitLab CI/CD.
- Expertise in API and RESTful service testing, risk-based testing, and automation strategy development.
- Familiarity with Jira and test-case documentation and management tools such as Zephyr.
- Experience testing in cloud-native environments with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.
- Strongly preferred experience with BrowserStack, SauceLabs, or LambdaTest for Appium automation.
- Exposure to Kafka, Terraform, Splunk, or New Relic for monitoring and debugging.
- Basic understanding of Java or Scala to support collaboration with engineers.
