Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, maintain, and deploy GenAI applications, AI agents, and agentic workflows using Python and modern AI frameworks.
- Build and deploy AI agents with Strands and AWS Bedrock AgentCore.
- Develop LLM-powered applications using model selection, RAG architectures, vector databases, and knowledge bases.
- Develop and maintain Python APIs and backend services using RESTful API and microservice architectures.
- Create prompt engineering strategies and evaluate LLM and agent responses with evaluation frameworks, metrics, and testing methods.
- Build document processing and data workflows covering PDF extraction, document transformation, structured output generation, and computer vision-based processing.
- Optimize application and AI architectures for latency, performance, and infrastructure and model costs.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization for APIs, services, and integrations.
- Contribute to automated testing, deployment, monitoring, logging, CI/CD pipelines, and production support.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across AI applications, agents, APIs, integrations, data workflows, and supporting infrastructure.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, QA, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver reliable AI-powered solutions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong professional experience with Python, API design, RESTful APIs, and backend application development.
- Hands-on experience developing GenAI applications, LLM-powered applications, or AI agents.
- Experience building and deploying AI agents with agentic frameworks, particularly Strands.
- Experience with AWS Bedrock AgentCore or similar AI-agent deployment and management platforms.
- Strong understanding of LLM application patterns, model selection, RAG architecture, prompt engineering, and vector databases.
- Experience evaluating LLM responses using evaluation frameworks, metrics, testing strategies, and evaluation methods.
- Experience building knowledge bases and document processing pipelines, including PDF extraction and document transformation.
- Experience with microservices, secure authentication and authorization, application integrations, CI/CD, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and logging.
- Experience optimizing application or AI-system performance, latency, and cost efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, and independent working abilities.
- Experience working in an Agile, cross-functional environment.
- Preferred experience with AWS services for AI applications, computer vision, image processing, curve digitization, advanced document processing, production-grade AI agents, multi-agent systems, AI evaluation platforms, custom evaluation frameworks, application modernization, or AI integration into established software systems.
- Must reside in and be authorized to work in Costa Rica.
