Responsibilities

  • Own the target architecture, technical strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end delivery for the modernization of the Policy Administration System.
  • Lead the migration away from legacy systems and integrate the platform with enterprise systems through modern APIs and services.
  • Establish automated testing, deployment practices, observability, scalability, security, performance, monitoring, logging, load testing, and vulnerability management.
  • Embed approved AI models into underwriting, pricing, recommendations, and core enterprise systems in partnership with Intact Lab and Data & AI teams.
  • Drive AI adoption across the product development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and release processes.
  • Set standards for data controls, secure-by-design engineering, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Mentor developers, grow the engineering community, translate business goals into technical roadmaps, and build consensus with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Advise executives, negotiate priorities and timelines, evaluate emerging technologies through proofs of concept, and define metrics for reliability, performance, user satisfaction, and delivery flow.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of software engineering and enterprise architecture experience, including building or modernizing a Policy Administration System or comparable mission-critical system.
  • Deep expertise in system design, integration patterns, data management, and data governance.
  • Deep proficiency in Java, with Spring Boot experience, and modern web front ends; Angular is an asset.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, large-scale in-house codebases, and modernization without disrupting delivery.
  • Hands-on experience using AI to accelerate how teams design, build, and ship software, plus demonstrated AI integration in enterprise systems.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, influencing, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required to regularly interact with English-speaking colleagues across Canada.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada from the anticipated start date and throughout employment; no Canadian work experience is required.
