Base Salary

$207k - $258k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver autonomy features using the Rivian Autonomy Stack.
  • Define operational design domains and functional, performance, and safety requirements for automated driving and active safety features.
  • Architect solutions, define interfaces, and identify cross-functional dependencies.
  • Collaborate with pose, perception, planning, motion control, software infrastructure, logging, simulation, data analytics, cloud, chassis, vehicle dynamics, UI/UX, and vehicle software teams.
  • Define feature evaluation metrics and deploy the required infrastructure and methods.
  • Lead development, triage, integration, testing, root-cause analysis, mitigation, and process improvements.
  • Coordinate feasibility, development status, risks, limitations, and schedules with program teams.
  • Represent autonomy in architecture and design reviews, feasibility studies, timeline reviews, FMEAs, and impact analyses.
  • Facilitate consensus during complex cross-functional technical discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in aerospace, electrical, mechatronics, computer science, robotics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional systems engineering or software development experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a master's degree.
  • Experience building autonomous systems or similarly complex robotics systems and deploying software in production environments.
  • Understanding of the operation and limitations of autonomous-driving hardware, including sensors and compute.
  • Working knowledge of automotive standards, regulations, and test protocols including ECE, USNCAP, IIHS, EUNCAP, and UNECE.
  • Moderate programming skills in C, C++, and Python, with the ability to understand and navigate software code.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, presentation, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Preferred: knowledge of current and emerging automotive sensor technologies and industry algorithms.
