Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Deliver medium-complexity initiatives from technical discovery through implementation and release.
- Break initiatives into features, estimate work, manage scope, identify risks, and make pragmatic tradeoffs.
- Design and build accessible, adaptable, scalable iOS components for Wikipedia’s global mobile audience.
- Lead system design for medium-sized projects and improve iOS performance, testing, debugging, and observability.
- Instrument features to support deeper analysis by Product Analysts.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, analysts, and native app engineers on pragmatic solutions.
- Prioritize technical opportunities, risks, sequencing, outcomes, and team capacity.
- Follow standards for code review, technical design, testing, documentation, accessibility, observability, and decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5–10+ years of related professional experience with significant iOS application development experience.
- Strong professional experience with Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and iOS architectural patterns.
- Experience with iOS performance optimization for smooth, responsive, high-performing applications.
- Experience working in a self-driven, lean environment.
- Commitment to the Wikimedia Foundation’s mission and values.
- Preferred: experience with webview-wrapped experiences, cross-platform mobile applications, mobile games or interactive experiences, data science, machine learning, AI, prompt engineering, Jupyter notebooks, MediaWiki, open source, agentic coding, or Wikimedia projects.
- Preferred: bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in computer science, management information systems, or a STEM field, or equivalent certification.
