Responsibilities
- Develop platform features using Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Build user-facing interfaces with React or Vue.js.
- Design and deploy backend services on AWS.
- Contribute to architecture reviews and write maintainable, high-quality code.
- Integrate with internal content platforms, authentication systems, and media pipelines.
- Support prototyping, production implementation, performance tuning, and ongoing platform improvements.
- Support CI/CD workflows and participate in incident response when necessary.
- Collaborate with designers, product partners, editorial teams, engineering peers, and partner newsrooms.
- Use AI development tools to improve development velocity and code quality.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience building applications with React or Vue.js.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, CloudFront, and API Gateway.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and modern engineering practices.
- Experience with Postgres and caching technologies such as Redis or DynamoDB.
- Ability to break down complex initiatives into well-defined engineering work.
- Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to code quality, testing, performance, and reliability.
- Preferred experience with newsroom tools, CMS systems, media workflows, content ingestion, video workflows, publishing systems, CDNs, edge compute platforms, A/B testing, analytics, experimentation tooling, Terraform, CloudFormation, open-source or developer tooling contributions, and mentoring or onboarding engineers.
