Base Salary

$343k - $433k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement multi-year technical strategies for agentic systems across Cisco’s product portfolio and engineering organizations.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for architectural decisions and drive adoption of standards such as the Model Context Protocol.
  • Architect scalable hybrid and graph-based retrieval systems for telemetry correlation, root cause analysis, and automated remediation.
  • Establish company-wide standards for AI safety, observability, compliance, auditability, and resilience.
  • Mentor Principal and Senior-level technical leaders and represent Cisco at industry forums, standards bodies, and conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field with 17+ years of software engineering experience, a master’s degree with 14+ years, or a PhD with 10+ years.
  • At least 5 years operating at Principal level or above, with technical-strategy influence across at least three distinct product organizations.
  • At least 2 years designing, developing, and deploying LLM-based systems serving 10,000+ daily active users or processing 500+ requests per second.
  • Production experience architecting and shipping at least one multi-agent system using LangGraph, Temporal, or an equivalent state-machine framework.
  • At least 10 years writing production-grade Go, Python, or Rust in hyperscale environments supporting large microservice architectures or petabyte-scale data pipelines.
  • Experience implementing at least three production safety or observability features, such as prompt-injection defenses, human-in-the-loop gates, or automated rollbacks.
  • Preferred experience with AI governance frameworks including NIST AI RMF and the EU AI Act, advanced post-training, inference-serving optimization, external technical contributions, or AIOps and network management.
