Responsibilities

  • Understand business requirements through regular interaction with the CIB Chief Data Office, business users, and subject matter experts.
  • Translate business requirements into solution designs, functional requirements, and detailed end-to-end architecture.
  • Provide technical leadership, communicate solutions to development teams, and support developers and production support teams.
  • Define solution roadmaps, promote architecture standards and best practices, and document architectural knowledge.
  • Develop proof-of-concept projects and review and validate solution designs from other team members.
  • Manage architectural risks, issues, technical debt, design backlogs, governance assessments, peer reviews, and decision traceability.
  • Collaborate with enterprise, platform, and value stream architects to evolve architectural strategy and improve the technology landscape.
  • Provide occasional project management support for projects implementing specified requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience working as a Solution Architect in a large, complex, geographically dispersed organization with matrix management and cross-time-zone collaboration.
  • Ability to understand business requirements, abstract architectural patterns, and design effective solutions.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, including the ability to present solutions and obtain approval from technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with streaming technologies including Kafka, Flink, and Pub/Sub.
  • Knowledge of application integration patterns, database technologies, data warehousing, ETL, and data integration.
  • Experience with Linux, Shell Scripting using Bash and AWK, and PowerShell.
  • Experience with at least one cloud platform: GCP, Azure, or AWS.
  • Experience with big data platforms including BQ, Hadoop, Spark, or Databricks.
  • Knowledge of containerization concepts and technologies including Docker and Kubernetes, including IKP and GKE.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, organization, time-management, communication, and commercial skills.
  • Ability to work independently, challenge designs and decisions, manage complex issues, and quickly understand new data landscapes and contexts.
