Base Salary

$180k - $275k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own product surfaces end-to-end across frontend, backend, data, and integrations.
  • Architect and build application workflows that wrap Lilly’s AI models into a cohesive SaaS product for biotech customers.
  • Make technology and architecture decisions while remaining hands-on in the code.
  • Establish engineering standards for code review, testing, releases, and on-call operations.
  • Mentor engineers, participate in hiring, and partner with the Engineering Manager on team development.
  • Pressure-test product roadmaps with product and design partners and help simplify solutions.
  • Navigate enterprise infrastructure, security, and compliance requirements and leverage Lilly IT and platform capabilities.
  • Represent engineering in discussions with external biotech partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of software engineering experience and a track record of shipping customer-used SaaS products.
  • Experience operating as a senior or staff individual contributor on a small team.
  • Strong full-stack fundamentals, including ownership from database schema through user interface.
  • Experience with API design, integrations, cloud environments, and modern deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML integration decisions and hands-on experience building LLM-powered features, including reliability, evaluations, and context management.
  • Experience building software for external customers and simplifying complex backend capabilities into usable products.
  • Experience working on small teams or in startup-like environments with broad ownership.
  • Ability to lead through technical judgment, communicate across technical and non-technical audiences, and set direction without a manager title.
  • Preferred experience includes life sciences, pharma or health tech, B2B SaaS, startups, early-stage internal ventures, or technical co-founder/early-engineer work.
