Base Salary

$159k - $211k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Advise software and systems development teams on DO-178C compliance and related technical supplements.
  • Monitor adherence to development assurance plans, standards, and peer review processes.
  • Develop and maintain certification and oversight documentation, including PSACs, review checklists, audit plans, and test-witnessing plans.
  • Participate in planning, requirements, design, code, and test reviews to identify technical and process issues.
  • Maintain compliance records and ensure DO-178C and DO-254 artifacts are complete and aligned with approved plans.
  • Represent software engineering before the FAA and support regulatory audits through audit leadership, test witnessing, and regulatory coordination.
  • Work with systems, development, and verification engineers to resolve compliance issues and ensure requirements are met.
  • Identify process improvements that reduce defect density and improve software activity efficiency.
  • Provide guidance on certification questions and issues.
  • Support the company’s effort to obtain a Designated Engineering Representative credential for the employee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, electronics technology, or a similar STEM or technical field.
  • 10+ years of related technical and certification experience.
  • Practitioner-level knowledge of DO-178C, including hands-on experience applying DO-331 for model-based development.
  • Hands-on experience with object-oriented software development.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, with the ability to work independently and solve problems without supervision.
  • Existing DER credentials or recent experience as an ODA Unit Member is preferred.
  • Experience applying DO-254 to custom micro-coded devices such as FPGAs and to Circuit Card Assemblies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA DER Handbook requirements under Order 8110.37 and the ability to meet Software DER requirements within six months is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DO-160 environmental qualification and at least 5 years of flight or engine control approval experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality frameworks such as AS9100, AS9006, and AS9115 is preferred.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Polarion, Collaborator, and SharePoint is preferred.
  • A master’s degree is preferred.
