Responsibilities
- Own and evolve ephemeral and local development environments using Kubernetes, DevSpace, and vCluster.
- Design, build, and harden shared CI/CD workflows and self-hosted runners with GitHub Actions.
- Build the internal developer portal and golden paths for service scaffolding, ownership data, catalog data, and self-service infrastructure.
- Define and track developer experience metrics, including build and test times, environment reliability, lead time to production, and change failure rate.
- Implement AI-assisted development workflows, including agentic workflows, AI-assisted code review, and test generation.
- Partner with Security and Compliance to encode SOC 2 and PCI controls into pipelines and repository governance.
- Work with product engineering teams to identify developer friction and prioritize improvements.
- Mentor engineers and lead projects from conception through adoption.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful developer experience, platform engineering, or engineering productivity work.
- Production-quality programming experience in Go, Python, TypeScript/Node, or a similar general-purpose language.
- Deep practical Kubernetes experience, including deployment, debugging, and platform abstraction.
- Experience building and operating CI/CD systems at scale and improving their speed, cost, or reliability.
- Fluency with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform, and experience owning AWS cloud infrastructure.
- A product mindset for internal tooling, including measuring adoption, engaging users, and writing documentation.
- Strong communication and cross-functional influence skills in a distributed engineering organization, including clear written English.
- Experience diagnosing systems with logs, metrics, and traces and instrumenting them for observability.
- Experience with internal developer portals such as Cortex, Backstage, or Port, including migration and adoption.
- Experience with ephemeral or on-demand preview environments and related cost, isolation, and data-seeding challenges.
- Experience running event-driven infrastructure locally and in CI, such as Kafka or LocalStack.
- Demonstrated use of AI development tooling in production engineering workflows.
- Experience with secrets management, platform security, Vault, OIDC-based cloud authentication, supply-chain controls, repository controls, and automated SOC 2 or PCI compliance controls.
