Responsibilities
- Own the display and graphics pipeline across Android and non-Android platforms.
- Design multi-display architectures for instrument clusters, central infotainment, passenger displays, and rear-seat entertainment.
- Bring up and validate display panels and interfaces with automotive infotainment SoC vendors.
- Optimize graphics performance, latency, frame rate, and memory bandwidth while debugging VSYNC issues, frame drops, and jank.
- Integrate and debug Hardware Composer, Gralloc, display HALs, kernel drivers, and Android Framework-to-kernel communication.
- Investigate and resolve screen freezes, black screens, graphical artifacts, ANRs, and native crashes.
- Implement dynamic resolution switching, content mirroring, and hardware-accelerated layering and composition.
- Collaborate with hardware, kernel, and HMI application teams on requirements and cross-layer dependencies.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of embedded software development or platform engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and C, with familiarity with Java or Kotlin for Android Framework debugging.
- Deep understanding of Android display and graphics architecture, including SurfaceFlinger and BufferQueue.
- Experience implementing or debugging HIDL/AIDL interfaces, especially Hardware Composer or Gralloc.
- Understanding of Linux internals, memory management including Ion/Dmabuf, and multithreading.
- Familiarity with low-level display hardware, serializers/deserializers, video links, and display interfaces.
- Hands-on experience bringing up displays on automotive infotainment SoCs such as Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit/Ride, NXP i.MX, or TI Jacinto.
- Working knowledge of OpenWF Display/OpenWFD and Wayland/Weston on QNX- or Linux-based systems.
- Proficiency with Git or comparable version control systems.
- Preferred experience with Linux DRM/KMS, V4L2, Android Automotive OS, EVS, cluster display management, automotive functional safety, display virtualization, VirtIO-GPU, QNX, Gunyah, Qualcomm Snapdragon, MediaTek, or NXP SoCs.
- Preferred proficiency with Systrace, Perfetto, vendor-specific GPU profilers, OpenGL ES, Vulkan, or EGL.
