Responsibilities
- Participate in security design reviews, code reviews, and fuzzing to identify and mitigate risks in Microsoft products.
- Serve as a security contact for teams building new Windows and Azure products and technologies.
- Identify vulnerabilities in operating-system features, network protocols, security features, and Microsoft devices.
- Develop security protections, penetration-testing strategies, and engineered solutions for security flaws.
- Discover and exploit security bugs and recommend controls and mitigations.
- Collaborate with product teams and communicate the business value of security investments.
- Interact with the external security community and security researchers.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field, with at least one semester or term remaining after the internship.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: participation in security competitions such as Capture the Flag.
- Preferred: experience exploiting bugs such as buffer overflows and use-after-free vulnerabilities and bypassing operating-system security mitigations.
- Preferred: experience creating and running fuzzers.
- Preferred: experience with reverse engineering, binary analysis, debuggers, dynamic analysis tools, code auditing, and static vulnerability analysis.
