Base Salary

$180k - $250k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the machine learning roadmap for vehicle perception.
  • Scope and run measurable ML experiments tied to vehicle performance.
  • Train, fine-tune, distill, and optimize perception models for compute-limited edge hardware.
  • Validate real-time model performance on target embedded hardware and in maritime conditions.
  • Build and maintain fleet-data pipelines, including dataset analysis, organization, and labeling.
  • Establish evaluation frameworks and metrics for model behavior before deployment at sea.
  • Integrate ML work with the vehicle software stack.
  • Lead technical efforts, set technical direction, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in machine learning, including 5+ years solving production perception problems.
  • Deep computer vision experience, including foundation models and smaller custom models.
  • Track record shipping performant ML models to edge devices and optimizing models using quantization, pruning, and inference runtimes such as TensorRT or ONNX Runtime.
  • Strong Python proficiency, expert-level PyTorch fluency, and strong working knowledge of OpenCV.
  • Experience with MLOps tooling for dataset versioning, experiment tracking, and model deployment.
  • Experience with real-time camera, radar, and IMU sensor data and familiarity with filtering, tracking, and sensor fusion.
  • Ability to independently scope projects, lead technical efforts, and mentor engineers.
  • Strong technical communication skills.
  • Preferred experience with probabilistic obstacle and target tracking, change detection, multimodal LiDAR/radar/camera/IMU sensor fusion, maritime or acoustic data, and path-planning or control algorithms.
