Base Salary

$93k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and operate cloud-scale observability platforms for metrics, logs, traces, and related telemetry data.
  • Implement scalable and resilient telemetry collection, ingestion, processing, storage, and query systems.
  • Evolve end-to-end observability pipelines from instrumentation and data collection through real-time analytics and long-term retention.
  • Design distributed systems capable of processing massive telemetry volumes with stringent latency and availability requirements.
  • Develop scalable storage and indexing solutions for high-cardinality metrics.
  • Collaborate with product management, architects, SREs, and engineering teams to deliver observability capabilities.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across ingestion, storage, indexing, aggregation, and query execution.
  • Design for reliability, fault tolerance, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Partner with service teams to improve instrumentation, telemetry quality, and operational visibility.
  • Establish and monitor service health, scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency metrics.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex distributed systems and production environments.

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Programming experience with Java, Go, C, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with cloud-scale products and services, multi-tenant services, concurrent programming, open source technologies, cloud technologies, and full product/service development and operations lifecycles.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Preferred experience designing and developing observability solutions for metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Preferred experience with Terraform.
  • Preferred experience with performance, scalability, reliability, and recovery of large-scale distributed systems.
