Responsibilities
- Lead application operations and production support for AWS-based and containerized internal and public-facing services.
- Define production operations architecture, readiness standards, automation, monitoring, runbooks, rollback plans, and operational acceptance criteria.
- Architect and scale tools, scripts, and automation frameworks for service telemetry, release validation, and operational readiness.
- Establish CI/CD operational gates, production validation practices, and governance mechanisms.
- Advance observability, event correlation, operational metrics, dashboards, and alerts to reduce MTTD and MTTR.
- Partner with SRE, data services, CI/CD, service engineering, platform hosting, product, and business teams to improve reliability.
- Lead performance, capacity, infrastructure modernization, and cost optimization using AWS, Kubernetes, EKS/UKS, autoscaling, and related cloud patterns.
- Use AI-assisted and agentic tools to accelerate development, operational automation, and production-signal analysis.
- Provide rotational on-call support, lead incident response and RCA, and drive corrective actions for recurring production issues.
- Influence cross-functional partners, mentor engineers, and drive adoption of scalable production practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical area.
- 10+ years operating and supporting production services at scale.
- 5+ years of AWS Cloud experience deploying, tuning, and operating Java/API services.
- Staff-level hands-on experience spanning software development, systems engineering, production operations, and service architecture.
- Expertise in distributed service architecture, Unix/Linux internals, networking, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, load balancing, and API troubleshooting.
- Experience with AWS service operations, containers and orchestration, automation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, incident management, and operational data platforms.
- Hands-on incident management experience including on-call support, incident coordination, stakeholder communications, RCA, and corrective-action tracking.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to cross-functional business partners while connecting technical details to customer and business impact.
- Experience with AI-assisted development or agentic engineering workflows using tools such as Codex, Claude, or Cursor.
- Payment processing, commerce, entitlement, wallet, fraud, or financial systems experience is preferred.
