Base Salary
$198k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve systems that power activity data at Strava.
- Design and build backend services for handling millions of activity uploads.
- Operate and improve critical production infrastructure, participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Partner with product teams to scope and deliver platform capabilities.
- Contribute to technical design reviews and help set technical direction.
- Balance time between proactive platform investment and product-team support.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proven track record of writing production-ready software.
- Significant backend/server engineering experience.
- Experience with distributed systems and scaling trade-offs.
- Hands-on experience with SQL or column stores.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Ruby, Scala, Go, Java).
- Familiarity with distributed systems technologies like Kafka, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication abilities.
