Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate large-scale distributed services and platform components.
- Drive feature development from requirements through design, implementation, deployment, and production support.
- Improve service scalability, reliability, availability, performance, latency, throughput, resource efficiency, and storage utilization.
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues across distributed systems.
- Develop and maintain telemetry, monitoring, diagnostics, and automated recovery mechanisms.
- Contribute to architecture reviews, technical decisions, and end-to-end platform solutions.
- Build automation for testing, validation, deployment, and operational workflows.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and AI-native engineering practices to improve development velocity and software quality.
- Participate in on-call rotations and reduce operational burden through engineering improvements.
- Mentor engineers and champion code reviews, design discussions, and operational best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree and 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience building and operating cloud services or distributed systems is preferred.
- Experience with service reliability, production operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting is preferred.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and software design principles is preferred.
- Ability to independently drive projects from conception to production, along with analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
