Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS RDS and Aurora environments.
- Operate and optimize Apache Cassandra clusters in distributed environments.
- Build and maintain database infrastructure using Terraform.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules for various database provisioning tasks.
- Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
- Define and enforce database platform standards.
- Optimize database performance through various tuning strategies.
- Build observability and monitoring solutions.
- Automate operational workflows and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
- Support database migrations from on-prem to AWS.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design and data modeling.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
Requirements
- 3+ years in database engineering, SRE, or platform engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS / Aurora in production environments.
- Experience with distributed databases like Cassandra.
- Deep understanding of high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
- Strong knowledge of the AWS ecosystem including RDS, EC2, and CloudWatch.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code at scale using Terraform.
- Linux systems administration experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and production incident management skills.
