Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate software automating Lambda’s network lifecycle from data center build-out and device provisioning through day-2 operations.
- Build zero-touch provisioning and deployment systems that prepare network devices for GPU clusters with minimal manual work.
- Develop pipelines for generating, validating, and deploying network configuration as code with automated testing, staged rollouts, and safe rollback.
- Create capacity planning tools using inventory, topology, and utilization data to forecast network resource needs.
- Integrate automation with source-of-truth, inventory, and IPAM systems to keep intended and live network state synchronized.
- Build APIs, services, and CLIs for internal teams to request, change, and audit network resources.
- Add metrics, logging, and alerting to owned systems and improve their reliability and speed.
- Partner with Network Engineering, Data Center Operations, and platform teams to turn manual runbooks into self-service automation.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for owned automation systems and tooling.
- Lead technical projects from design through production rollout and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
- Deep expertise in multiple programming languages and the ability to write production-quality code.
- Experience building automation or infrastructure tooling used by other engineers, such as provisioning systems, deployment pipelines, workflow engines, or internal APIs.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems design, API design, data modeling, idempotency, and partial-failure handling.
- Experience with code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows.
- Comfort with the Linux command line and understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and IP routing.
- Ability to lead technical projects end to end and mentor other engineers.
- Clear communication with software engineering, network engineering, and operations teams.
- Preferred experience with data center networking, including Clos/spine-leaf fabrics, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, and ECMP.
- Preferred experience automating Arista, Juniper, Cisco, or NVIDIA Cumulus/SONiC network devices through APIs, NETCONF/gNMI, or Jinja templating.
- Preferred familiarity with Ansible, Nornir, Netmiko, NAPALM, Terraform, network source-of-truth systems, DCIM, or IPAM.
- Preferred experience with capacity planning, forecasting, large-scale time-series telemetry, InfiniBand, RoCEv2, Kubernetes, and data center power, space, and cooling constraints.
Benefits
- Annual salary range information is provided in the posting, but no specific figures are listed.
- Generous cash and equity compensation.
- Health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
- Wellness and commuter stipends for select roles.
- 401(k) plan with a 2% company match for U.S. employees.
