Base Salary
$200k - $322k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive adoption of open source standards and governance practices across multiple engineering teams.
- Design lightweight governance models covering ownership, decision-making, maintainer roles, and contributor pathways.
- Grow external contribution through community engagement, contributor documentation, and operational programs.
- Provision and manage community infrastructure, including Slack, community meetings, and collaboration spaces.
- Develop and execute 30/60/90-day plans for transitioning repositories into active, well-governed projects.
- Build isolated contributor-safe CI, automated PR quality screening, and end-to-end contributor workflows.
- Monitor community health, operate external events, and build automated program metrics.
- Create reusable open source readiness and adoption playbooks.
Requirements
- 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience driving adoption of open source practices across multiple engineering teams.
- Experience designing open source governance, contributor pathways, maintainer roles, and decision-making processes.
- Strong software engineering skills and experience building CI checks, PR review tooling, and metrics pipelines.
- Hands-on experience using Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor in an engineering workflow.
- Experience running open source community programs involving infrastructure, events, contributor engagement, participation, and turnout.
- Ability to own open source adoption and community management end to end.
- Preferred: experience with credible repository practices, open source contribution or maintenance, spam or low-quality-submission detection, anti-abuse or moderation systems, technical events, and external technical writing.
Benefits
- Base salary range of 200,000 USD to 322,000 USD, plus equity and benefits.
