Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and Google Cloud Platform, with Azure as a potential additional platform.
- Build and manage infrastructure as code with Terraform and CloudFormation and configuration automation with Ansible.
- Write Bash scripts for operational and deployment automation.
- Design, deploy, and operate production Kubernetes platforms using Rancher/RKE2 and Red Hat OpenShift.
- Monitor logs, metrics, and alerting systems and lead infrastructure incident response and troubleshooting.
- Implement zero trust access controls, federated identity, least-privilege roles, and machine-to-machine authentication.
- Harden infrastructure and container platforms to STIG/CIS standards and support the Authority to Operate process.
- Collaborate with platform leadership, development, network, security, and compliance teams to translate architecture into secure automated infrastructure.
- Adopt and extend pre-approved cloud provisioning templates and support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot in daily engineering work.
- Contribute to cloud, platform, security, compliance, and DevSecOps engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Demonstrated professional experience designing, building, and operating production cloud infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience with both AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Bash scripting.
- Hands-on production experience with Rancher/RKE2 and Red Hat OpenShift.
- Real site reliability experience including on-call work, incident response, and service-level ownership.
- Strong understanding of identity and access management, network security, zero trust controls, and networking concepts.
- Experience hardening infrastructure or application-hosting platforms to STIG/CIS standards and exposure to Authority to Operate processes.
- Ability to use AI-assisted development tools and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance; DOD/DoW Secret or Top Secret clearance is preferred.
- Azure experience and experience with stackArmor or comparable pre-accredited cloud provisioning products are desired.
- Experience with Department of Defense DevSecOps or hosting programs such as Platform One, Big Bang, Iron Bank, or Cloud One is desired.
- Familiarity with the NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST Special Publication 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, and the CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model is desired.
- Prior support for DISA, Army, Air Force, or other Department of War networks or programs is desired.
- Kubernetes, OpenShift, or cloud provider certifications such as CKA, CKAD, CKS, AWS/GCP professional, or equivalent are desired.
