Base Salary
$130k - $170k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate distributed backend services and APIs for high-volume customer interactions.
- Own platform initiatives end to end, from problem framing and technical planning through implementation, rollout, and production support.
- Improve reliability, scalability, latency, and cost across shared platform systems.
- Partner with Product, SRE, and engineering teams to deliver platform improvements without destabilizing live traffic.
- Participate in on-call, incident response, troubleshooting, alerting improvements, runbook development, deployment quality, and capacity planning.
- Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, pairing, documentation, mentorship, and higher engineering standards.
Requirements
- 5–7+ years of experience building backend services and APIs in production, or equivalent practical depth.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or Go.
- Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, and cloud-native development on AWS and/or GCP using Kubernetes and Docker.
- Production ownership experience including deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and on-call support for high-scale services.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL or Aurora, Redis, and RabbitMQ, including reliability, performance, and scalability tradeoffs.
- Preferred experience with Redshift, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, S3, Kinesis, IAM, Terraform, observability across metrics/logs/traces, and database scaling or migrations.
