Responsibilities
- Frame ambiguous business problems as well-defined machine learning problems.
- Design, build, validate, train, tune, deploy, and monitor machine learning models.
- Engineer and maintain features and datasets for training and inference.
- Deploy models in batch and real-time environments and integrate them with other systems.
- Lead modeling projects end to end, including stakeholder alignment, delivery, monitoring, and iteration.
- Contribute to the design, documentation, maintenance, and optimization of modeling codebases, platforms, and tooling.
- Partner with technical and business stakeholders to define modeling strategies aligned with Nubank’s architecture and goals.
- Share knowledge, mentor peers, and contribute to ML and data literacy initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning theory, and modeling techniques such as regression, tree-based models, and deep learning.
- Programming experience in Python and familiarity with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and XGBoost.
- Experience training, validating, and tuning models, with understanding of overfitting, bias-variance tradeoff, and evaluation metrics.
- Understanding of the machine learning model lifecycle from training and evaluation through deployment and monitoring.
- Ability to write efficient SQL queries and work with analytical data environments.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
- Preferred: experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous architectures; feature stores, MLOps tooling, and experiment tracking.
- Preferred: knowledge of data architecture patterns such as data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts.
- Preferred: experience with Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices including testing, clean code, and documentation.
