Responsibilities
- Design and build Golang backend services integrating with payment processors, gateways, and card networks.
- Own authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation, and chargeback or dispute-handling flows.
- Build idempotent, fault-tolerant, auditable transaction processing using distributed-architecture patterns and queues.
- Implement payment-data protections including tokenization, network tokens, and applicable 3DS/SCA flows within PCI DSS scope.
- Monitor authorization and decline rates, processor performance, latency, and settlement accuracy.
- Use Claude or equivalent LLM tools for design, coding, research, testing, and documentation while following security and data-handling policies.
- Mentor engineers, unblock peers, and occasionally lead small project teams.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, including meaningful experience with payments, fintech, or money-movement systems.
- Strong Go experience preferred, or comparable Python experience, including building and serving APIs.
- Hands-on experience integrating with payment processors, gateways, or acquiring systems and knowledge of authorization, settlement, tokenization, idempotency, reconciliation, and disputes.
- Experience with distributed cloud architectures, transactional outboxes, and queuing tools such as Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ.
- Demonstrated hands-on use of Claude or an equivalent LLM to improve productivity, research, communication, and engineering output.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred experience includes SQL-based relational databases through an ORM, observability platforms, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, AWS, commercial APIs, and web applications.
- Preferred payments knowledge includes Adyen, Stripe, Marqeta, Fiserv, PCI DSS, 3DS/SCA, and network tokenization.
