Base Salary
$122k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, document, and operate production-grade software focused on Go services and APIs.
- Own the technical design and delivery of medium-to-large features and systems across multiple services and teams.
- Break down ambiguous problems into deliverable work and lead design and architecture reviews.
- Set code review standards for correctness, readability, testability, and operational safety.
- Mentor and grow engineers, onboard new hires, and serve as a technical point of contact.
- Improve on-call operations through instrumentation, incident response, and blameless postmortems.
- Improve system reliability, performance, and cost while defining and acting on SLOs and operational metrics.
- Identify technical debt and advocate for worthwhile engineering investments.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and stakeholders on roadmap and technology decisions.
- Help define and enforce engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
- Strong demonstrated proficiency in Go, including concurrency, error handling, testing, profiling, and performance tuning.
- Experience designing, building, and scaling backend services and REST and/or gRPC APIs in distributed microservices environments.
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and experience with React or another modern front-end framework.
- Knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases, caching, and event streaming such as Kafka or SQS/SNS.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong operational skills in observability, monitoring, alerting, and production debugging.
- Experience leading projects with multiple contributors and delivering them on time without sacrificing quality.
- Familiarity with Agile software delivery and SCRUM methodology.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in an enterprise environment.
- Preferred experience with identity and access management, authentication, authorization, SSO, account lifecycle management, and identity standards.
- Preferred familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, MFA, and session and token lifecycle management.
- Preferred experience with Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock, AWS Cognito, Ping, or an in-house identity platform.
- Preferred experience with account security, fraud prevention, PII handling, KYC, GDPR, or CCPA.
- Preferred experience with high-traffic consumer products, platform or shared-services work, startup environments, or sports, commerce, and media domains.
