$122k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, document, and operate production-grade software, primarily Go services and APIs.
- Own technical designs for medium-to-large features and systems, including trade-off analysis, decision documentation, and delivery.
- Break down ambiguous problems into scoped work and lead architecture and design reviews.
- Set code review standards for correctness, readability, testability, and operational safety.
- Mentor and onboard engineers and serve as a technical point of contact for owned systems.
- Improve on-call operations, observability, incident response, postmortems, reliability, performance, cost, and SLOs.
- Identify and reduce technical debt while influencing engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to shape roadmaps and technology decisions.
- Contribute meaningfully to TypeScript/React front ends supporting backend services.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
- Strong demonstrated proficiency in Go, including concurrency, error handling, testing, profiling, and performance tuning.
- Experience designing, building, and scaling backend services and APIs in distributed microservices environments.
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and experience with React or another modern front-end framework.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, caching, and event streaming such as Kafka or SQS/SNS.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong operational skills in observability, monitoring, alerting, and production debugging.
- Track record of leading projects with multiple contributors and delivering them on time without sacrificing quality.
- Familiarity with Agile software delivery and Scrum methodology and the ability to work cross-functionally in an enterprise environment.
- Preferred experience with identity and access management, authentication, authorization, SSO, account lifecycle management, and identity standards.
- Preferred familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, MFA, session and token lifecycle management, and providers such as Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock, AWS Cognito, or Ping.
- Preferred experience with account security, fraud prevention, PII handling, KYC, GDPR, CCPA, high-traffic consumer products, platform or shared services, startup environments, or sports, commerce, and media domains.
