Base Salary

$124k - $187k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead software engineering teams developing, integrating, and sustaining High Energy Laser system software.
  • Define software architectures and technical approaches for weapon operation, subsystem control, command and control, diagnostics, health monitoring, data management, and user interfaces.
  • Oversee software requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, configuration management, and baseline control.
  • Lead integration of software with sensors, laser and beam-control subsystems, power and thermal systems, safety systems, and external interfaces.
  • Guide development of embedded software, application software, middleware, and interface software.
  • Conduct design reviews, code reviews, technical assessments, and architecture evaluations.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, laboratory integration, field testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Develop technical plans, schedules, estimates, and staffing plans, and mentor software engineers.
  • Support customer briefings, technical reviews, proposal efforts, and business development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 8 years of software engineering experience with complex defense, aerospace, embedded, or mission-critical systems.
  • At least 3 years of technical leadership experience leading software development teams.
  • Experience designing, developing, integrating, and testing complex software systems.
  • Proficiency in C++, C#, Python, Java, or other modern programming languages.
  • Experience with software architecture, object-oriented design, distributed software systems, and hardware or sensor integration.
  • Familiarity with software lifecycle processes, Agile methodologies, DevSecOps practices, configuration management, and version control tools such as Git.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and multidisciplinary team leadership skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Preferred qualifications include a relevant master’s degree, High Energy Laser or other advanced defense-platform experience, RTOS and embedded software development, command and control systems, tactical communications, MBSE, cybersecurity requirements, RMF, NIST standards, and defense-program production or sustainment experience.
  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance and experience with system integration laboratories, field demonstrations, qualification testing, operational evaluations, and simulation-based testing are preferred.
