Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance backend services and REST APIs using Python, FastAPI or comparable frameworks, and supporting libraries.
- Design and implement service-layer capabilities for front-end applications, embedded analytics, enterprise integrations, and downstream consumers.
- Translate user stories, functional requirements, and solution designs into backend services, APIs, data models, and integration components.
- Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise applications, internal and external services, and governed data platforms.
- Implement data persistence, models, SQL queries, transformations, validation, and application data flows using PostgreSQL and other relational databases.
- Contribute to unit, integration, API, contract, and data-validation testing.
- Create prototypes and proofs of concept for API, integration, data, and AI/agentic approaches and help productionize approved concepts.
- Use source control, code reviews, CI/CD practices, and established development and deployment standards.
- Monitor and troubleshoot backend services, APIs, database integrations, and data pipelines while supporting defect resolution and production operations.
- Create and maintain API documentation, data models, integration specifications, configuration notes, and operational support procedures.
- Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, front-end engineers, data engineers, QA engineers, and other technology teams.
- Participate in Agile sprint planning, estimation, status updates, and continuous improvement across the technology ecosystem.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Approximately 2 to 4 years of relevant software development, application development, data, or technology experience.
- Professional experience developing or supporting software, data, or technology solutions.
- Hands-on experience developing backend services, APIs, or integrations with Python or comparable server-side technologies.
- Experience translating business requirements or user stories into backend services, APIs, data models, or integration solutions.
- Experience developing REST APIs and integrating applications with databases, enterprise data sources, or other technology platforms.
- Working knowledge of relational data concepts, data persistence, PostgreSQL or comparable SQL technologies, transformations, data quality, authentication, authorization, and access controls.
- Experience with enterprise application integrations or service platforms such as Salesforce or Microsoft Power Platform.
- Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery methodologies and creating clear technical and functional documentation.
- Ability to collaborate across global, virtual, and cross-functional teams, learn unfamiliar technologies quickly, solve problems, and communicate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience includes enterprise-grade applications in healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated environments.
- Preferred experience includes Databricks, Salesforce, AWS, Microsoft Power Platform, Tableau, GitLab, automated testing, monitoring, logging, production support, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, AI-enabled applications, agentic workflows, MCP integrations, and enterprise AI/ML capabilities.
- Relevant certifications in Salesforce, Microsoft Power Platform, cloud technologies, software development, data, DevOps, cybersecurity, Agile, or enterprise platforms are preferred; SAFe for Teams or equivalent is a plus.
