Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Reduce local development startup and iteration latency for ChatGPT engineers.
- Improve Bazel build performance, cache effectiveness, reproducibility, disk usage, remote-cache behavior, and build invalidation observability.
- Improve CI reliability and merge throughput by reducing unrelated failures, tail latency, flaky or mis-owned tests, quarantine friction, and manual reruns.
- Build agents for pull-request rebasing, conflict resolution, CI triage, safe reruns, owner routing, and blocker identification.
- Make deployment pipelines more self-healing and improve deployment observability.
- Establish metrics for commit-to-production latency, deployment throughput, CI tail latency, local bootup time, failure rates, manual interventions, false-positive gates, and developer-reported pain.
- Collaborate across teams to turn developer workflow problems into measurable, durable fixes.
Requirements
- Strong experience with large-scale developer infrastructure, build systems, CI/CD, deployment systems, or production reliability.
- Ability to debug across local machines, devboxes, remote caches, monorepos, service dependencies, authentication systems, and distributed deployment pipelines.
- Comfort with Bazel, Buildkite, Kubernetes, Temporal, Python or TypeScript services, GitHub workflows, and large monorepo tooling, or equivalent systems.
- Ability to replace repeated manual intervention with policy-backed automation while preserving production safety.
- Strong cross-team communication and ability to turn ambiguous workflow issues into owners, hypotheses, metrics, and shipped fixes.
- Experience improving developer experience in a very large monorepo is preferred.
- Experience with remote execution, remote caching, hermetic builds, cache reproducibility, CI quarantine, test ownership, merge queues, auto-revert systems, progressive delivery, canary or preview deployments, synthetics, alert quality, deploy-manager workflows, or agent-assisted developer workflows is preferred.
- Familiarity with security and access-control constraints involving secrets, internal authentication, VPN or exit-node networking, and local development is preferred.
