Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance observability services for monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing.
- Develop high-performance data capture, collection, ingestion, and processing services for real-time and batch workloads.
- Construct metrics ingestion pipelines, alert definitions, and dashboard lifecycle automation.
- Build and deploy infrastructure components in production across Kubernetes, OpenStack, bare-metal, and AWS environments.
- Operate and optimize Workday in air-gapped U.S. AWS cloud regions and participate in the observability platform on-call rotation.
- Maintain data quality, integrity, and availability while evaluating open-source and cloud-native technologies.
- Partner with the Federal Cyber Defense team on cybersecurity posture, governance, risk, compliance, and platform security health.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required because the role supports U.S. Federal Government contracts.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience building high-performance data ingestion software and addressing concurrency, latency, and efficiency challenges.
- Strong software engineering experience delivering high-quality products at scale and designing systems that meet business needs.
- Exceptional coding skills in Java and Python; Go is a plus.
- Experience with high-performance data capture and collection systems, API design, reliable data delivery, time-series databases, and log collection and management.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Linux, and infrastructure automation using Ansible, Chef, and Terraform.
- Experience with the Prometheus ecosystem, Elasticsearch, Grafana, InfluxData, PromQL, InfluxQL, and Helm.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; active TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
- Preferred DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and one approved specialty certification such as CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, or CASP+.
- Strong interpersonal, technical, communication, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
Benefits
- Annualized base salary for the primary location is $163,800-$245,800, with an additional U.S. location range of $148,200-$264,000; the role may also be eligible for a bonus plan and annual refresh stock grants.
- Workday uses a flexible hybrid model requiring at least 50% of each quarter in the office or field with customers, prospects, or partners.
- Employees may be required to work onsite at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
- The role includes participation in an on-call rotation and may require obtaining and maintaining a TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance.
