Responsibilities
- Design and implement prototype and production-quality controls algorithms for robotic systems.
- Design and implement localization algorithms, including visual-inertial SLAM and sensor fusion.
- Develop calibration, motion control, path planning, and collision-avoidance capabilities for complex robots.
- Write production-level embedded firmware and application software in C, C++, Rust, or Python.
- Build tools for algorithm debugging, analysis, and performance evaluation.
- Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and general debugging when systems fail.
- Own projects from idea through prototype and finished production implementation.
- Apply software engineering best practices, including version control, unit testing, and automated deployment.
Requirements
- Experience implementing algorithms for calibration, motion control, and path planning of complex robotic systems.
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of modelling, signal processing, motion planning, sensor fusion, and collision avoidance.
- Industry experience building and deploying production systems in C, C++, Python, Rust, or comparable languages.
- Software engineering experience with Git, unit testing, and automated deployment.
- Basic familiarity with Linux systems and conventions, including troubleshooting remote machines.
- Experience troubleshooting issues and conducting root cause analysis.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Systems Engineering, or equivalent.
- Prototype-building experience in a zero-to-one environment and/or experience on top student teams is preferred.
