Responsibilities
- Ship features across the full stack, including robot firmware, Rust services, web UIs, and internal tools.
- Track down subtle production issues such as memory leaks, network backpressure problems, and race conditions.
- Own bare-metal servers, NixOS configurations, deployment tooling, and reliable software delivery to robots and services.
- Build observability across the robot fleet and service infrastructure.
- Develop debugging tools, data visualization tools, and platforms that improve team effectiveness.
- Improve data infrastructure, including the in-house typed document database and ClickHouse.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to support robot features and debug issues.
Requirements
- Industry experience building and deploying production systems in multiple programming languages.
- Rust experience is valuable but not required.
- Familiarity with Linux systems and conventions, including diagnosing issues over SSH.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as UDP, TCP, and WebSockets.
- A strong computer science or mathematics foundation; knowledge of linear algebra and 3D transformations is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ownership and ability to drive problems and projects from start to finish.
- A background as a technical founder, CTO, or founding engineer is likely to fit, while impressive shipped work from any type of company is also valued.
