Responsibilities

  • Ship features across the full stack, including robot firmware, Rust services, web UIs, and internal tools.
  • Track down subtle production issues such as memory leaks, network backpressure problems, and race conditions.
  • Own bare-metal servers, NixOS configurations, deployment tooling, and reliable software delivery to robots and services.
  • Build observability across the robot fleet and service infrastructure.
  • Develop debugging tools, data visualization tools, and platforms that improve team effectiveness.
  • Improve data infrastructure, including the in-house typed document database and ClickHouse.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to support robot features and debug issues.

Requirements

  • Industry experience building and deploying production systems in multiple programming languages.
  • Rust experience is valuable but not required.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems and conventions, including diagnosing issues over SSH.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as UDP, TCP, and WebSockets.
  • A strong computer science or mathematics foundation; knowledge of linear algebra and 3D transformations is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated ownership and ability to drive problems and projects from start to finish.
  • A background as a technical founder, CTO, or founding engineer is likely to fit, while impressive shipped work from any type of company is also valued.
